We move this week
Sound Techniques has leased new premises at Unit 3, Ambury Court, 1 Porters Ave, Eden Tce, Auckland, 1024
Phone, fax numbers remain the same
We will open there on Wednesday July 21st. We’ll be closed for Monday July 19th and Tuesday July 20th as we make the move. Please forward any orders for sales or rentals by 4:00pm Friday July 16th.
We’re directly below Eden Tce Dental Care and in a block of units alongside the Green Party, Cyclone Computers, and more. Parking is available around the back of the building. It’s just down New North Rd from our current home.
How to find us.
From the city/current location
Get on to the top of Symonds St and branch right on to New North Rd. 500m down the road and immediately prior to the underpass turn left in Porters Ave. It’s in front of the big Kennards self storage place. Immediately turn right and drive down the alleyway behind the first set of units. If you cross the railway line you’ve gone too far.
Sound Techniques is the last unit away from Porters Ave and parking is at the rear of the building at the end of the driveway alongside the building. Walk to the front of the building and enter the door downstairs from the dentist
From West Auckland.
Take the NW Motorway to Western Springs turn into St Lukes Rd and left into New North Rd. Proceed through Kingsland and under the overpass. Once out of the underpass immediately turn right into Porters Ave and right into no 1. and drive down the alleyway behind the first set of units. If you cross the railway line you’ve gone too far.
Sound Techniques is the last unit away from Porters Ave and parking is at the rear of the building at the end of the driveway alongside the building. Walk to the front of the building and enter the door downstairs from the dentist

Just arrived Alfa Case Professional microphone, Softie, and boom pole case samples.
We have samples of the Combo-Case, Boom tube, MicTube and Softie-case from Alfa Case in store.
Combo-Case: Finally! A case for audio professionals that is designed to accommodate a full windshield/windjammer kit, plus an ENG-length boom pole. Made from sturdy, high-density molded plastic, the Combo-Case™ uses sturdy ATA-style draw-latch closures.   No foam is used in this case. It is formed to fit the windshield basket, furry cover and mounting handle.
A boom pole fits in its own moulded cradle. No foam to flake, rot or replace. A heavy-duty rubber seal keeps out dirt and moisture. Its double-wall construction minimizes shock and vibration, keeping your equipment safe. The Combo-Case™ comes with a removable shoulder strap.
The Softi-Case is designed to safely carry your favourite shotgun microphone in a Rycote Softie or other brand of furry windshield. A Softie microphone boom mount will also fit inside the Softi-Case.
Softi-Case is lightweight, yet rugged enough to withstand the normal abuse of ENG, EFP and filmmaking shoots. Made from tough ABS plastic, the Softi-Case withstands shock and vibration.
Its lid is designed to keep out moisture and dust. With the optional mounting kit, you can attach the Softi-Case to a Boom Tube boom pole case. Now, you have a lightweight and very portable storage and carrying system, leaving your hands free.
Softi-Case is available in 3 lengths and four colours: Black, Blue, Yellow and Silver.

Tascam HS-P82 8-track recorder
We had a brief look at the new Tascam HS-P82 8-track recorder.
TASCAM's HS-P82 offers 8 tracks of up to 192kHz/24-bit WAV format recording with timecode. It’s built for location television and film production audio, with eight microphone inputs for big shoots or reality programs. The standard XLR microphone inputs include phantom power and analogue limiting, with trims controlled from recessed front-panel controls. In addition to the eight individual tracks, a stereo mixdown can be recorded for instant use during editing. The touch screen is a novel addition though screen size would be an issue for large fingers.
Audio is recorded to a pair of Compact Flash cards. This solid state media is completely reliable with no moving parts, and you can record to both cards simultaneously for extra security. The Broadcast WAV files include iXML metadata for quick import into nearly any video or audio editing system, either via the USB 2.0 connection or a standard card reader.

It's a simple process. Your eligibility and approval can be determined quickly.
WHY AN OPERATING LEASE?
• Flexibility to upgrade during or end of lease term
• Ideal for rapidly depreciating equipment
• Payments are an operating expense & typically 100% tax deductible
• Can extend term and upgrade when ready
WHY LEASE-TO-OWN?
• When ownership is preferred at the end of the lease
• For assets that have a longer usable life (typically 3 years plus)
• Asset & liability – interest & depreciation claimed as a tax deduction.
